OEM Kia Control Arms & Parts

Control arms, or "A arms" as some call them, are fundamental parts of your Kia vehicle's front suspension. They connect the frame or body of your Kia to the wheel assembly through a steering knuckle using flexible rubber pieces called bushings. This allows the control arms to swing vertically as the front wheels and tires traverse potholes, bumps, and other road impediments.

The control arm's outer end connects to the frame or body. That connection can be bolted in, unitized, or pressed in. Unitized and press in assemblies use a ball joint, which requires changing the complete assembly when replacing an old one. Bolt-in assemblies, most often seen with MacPherson struts, require more time and effort to replace.

Eventually, even the best control arms can bend, get damaged, or wear out. That makes in unsafe to keep driving, so you'll want to replace yours when they start to go bad.

How to Spot Failing Control Arms

Fortunately, control arms usually fail in gradual stages and the signs are easy to recognize. They include:

• Vibrating wheels
• A wandering steering wheel
• Your steering wheel pulls to one side
• Unusual noises
• The wheels wobble
• Worsening ride comfort
• Uneven tire wear
• Erratic braking
